Vocations to the Priesthood and Religious Life

Rich has given many talks to the Serra club, parishes, and other organizations concerned about vocations to the priesthood and religious life. He discusses the many factors influencing our young people today, but also areas where there has been success. In 2015, a year dedicated to the consecrated life, when asked about the situation of vocations, Pope Francis emphasized that there are churches which are bearing new fruit. He stated: “… the fraternal life and fervor of the community can awaken in the young a desire to consecrate themselves completely to God and to the preaching of the Gospel.”

Rich reminds us that we cannot forget Mary, the Mother of all priests, and all of the priests who have helped us to attain this exalted state in the Church.

Besides the latest statistics, Rich’s handouts include a prioritized parish checklist to follow based on published data collected from dioceses and parishes where vocations are in the increase. At the top of the list is perpetual adoration.

Rich has also given talks and retreats to the youth at all ages on how to choose a life’s vocation, which may include other areas where they can serve the Church.
